CAGES AREN'T
COMMUNITIES.

Citizens Bank says it's dedicated to fostering strong communities, but hasn't cut ties with CoreCivic and The GEO Group. Join us to demand that Citizens Bank stop financing private prisons.

THESE are our NEIGHBORS.

“I was in a cell most of the time, with no fresh air. I got to go out for recreation for an hour in the morning, and then I had to lock back in. The recreation area was like if you were in a cage like a dog. I’d go to lunch and then I was back in my cell for the rest of the day. I just sat there for months.”

“I started to worry when border patrol put us a bus with blackened windows. When they shackled our hands and feet, I was terrified. They put us on a plane and would not remove the shackles to let us eat or go to the bathroom. Why this humiliation?”

“It's like open season on the inmates. I have watched them physically get, you know, beat up and bloodied.”

NO ONE SHOULD

PROFIT FROM ANOTHER'S IMPRISONMENT.

“I still see Dillon Reed at night sometimes when I go to bed. He was a good kid. He should have never died in there. He died because of staff negligence. People are humans in there. I think every one of us need to understand that these people have families. They have people that love them.”

“You come here looking to get away from danger. They take you in handcuffs; not just around your hands but also chains at your feet.”

TELL CITIZENS BANK TO STOP FINANCING

OUR NEIGHBORS' PAIN.

Do you have a CoreCivic or GEO story you'd like to share? Reach out to laura@boycottcitizens.org

Your privacy is important to us. We will never share your name or any part of your story without your permission.

WHAT YOU CAN DO

SAY GOODBYE

TO CITIZENS.

You deserve a bank that builds our communities up instead of financing companies that are tearing them apart. Consider your local credit unions or one of the banks that have pledged not to lend to CoreCivic and GEO. This guide can help you weigh your options.

SPREAD THE

WORD.

Most people don't want to support the companies that enable our unjust system of private prisons and detention centers, but it can be hard to know who's involved. Make it a little easier for others by sharing what you've learned. Check out the #BoycottCitizens toolkit for shareable information.

DIVEST FROM

THE INDUSTRY.

Citizens Bank is just one of many publicly traded companies that directly and indirectly enable private prisons and immigrant detention, deportation, and surveillance. Check whether your portfolio has private prison funds and find better options at prisonfreefunds.org.

WRITE TO THE

C-SUITE.

Our friends at #EyesOnICE have launched a letter-writing campaign to demand that the leaders of Citizens and other banks with ties to private prisons and the deportation industry publicly commit to ending their private prison relationships for good. Grab your pen.

ORGANIZE A

PROTEST.

If you live near a Citizens Bank location, consider organizing a protest at a local branch or office. Even a small protest of 3-5 people sharing information about Citizens' ties with CoreCivic and GEO can be effective. Get organizing tips here.
